Activities during COVID 19 lock down period:

E-Health Services: The Santiniketan Sevasadan, a unit of Swadhin Trust organizes awareness meetings on daily basis involving medical professionals, pharmacists and patients. Now 10 ITI campus are being utilized for providing digital health services with help of technical team of its Institutes, Doctors, nursing staff
etc. for large number of rural patients, who are suffering with

various diseases but unable to get treatment due to corona virous infection, are now greatly benefited through on-line visit of Doctors, diagnosis and arrangement of medicines at
concessional rates by the team of Colleges.

Swadhin has started a new initiative like On Line Telemedicine in various ITI campuses with technical support from Santiniketan Sebanikatan. This on-line telemedicine has opened the door for the patients who are unable to reach to Doctors due to COVID 19 lock down. Since last one-month Swadhin has offered services to more than 700 patients with involvement of 25 highly trained Doctors and Medical practitioners


Baishak Celebration (7th May): The Swadhin Trust celebrated Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s 160th Birth Centenary at Santiniketan Institute of Polytechnic, Muluk, Bolpur and all other ITI campuses. The event was celebrated with various cultural programmes like singing, dancing and drama play of Tagore’s creation.

E-LEARNIG: –The Swadhin Trust has started E-learning for students pursuing ITI, Polytechnic, B.Ed and Skill/vocational training classes due the lock down situation. Around 1500 students are taking part actively through online classes and 100 teachers are engaged in imparting these classes. The Trust has also left no stone unturned to bring the students and teaching community on a single digital platform. Due to lock down, Schools and Colleges remain shut for months and the students are gradually frustrated and demotivated for drastic deviation from pre covid normal life and there was enormous loss for the society. Teachers are also depressed under new normal situation. Therefore, the Trust has arranged daily awareness programme through virtual mode about organizing virtual classes, method of teaching and sharing of teaching materials and assessment under new normal situation due to COVID-19.


SETTING UP OF QUARANTINE CENTER FOR MIGRANT LABOURS: Swadhin has collaborated with the District authorities by setting up of Quarantine Center for migrant labours, off campus employees. Swadhin has also started a suspected COVID Quarantine Center at Nimtala Bolpur. This Center has facility of 100 beds with proper food and medical facilities.

Organization of Webinar: The Swadhin Trust has started online Web based seminar on various emerging areas like health services and education, problems of migrant labourers in construction sector etc. where large section of population actively participated and enriched the health and education services on virtual mode.
